Firefly quartz with petroleum inclusions - Madirobe, Madagascar

Piece composed of two quartz crystals joined together, skeletal, one of them slightly sceptered, with shiny surfaces, and hydrocarbon inclusions (notably petroleum) that fluoresce strongly under UV light (short and long).

A small moving bubble is highlighted by a black circle (easily erased).

Discovered in 2023, these Malagasy quartz crystals have the advantage of being very diverse in shape and size, compared with oil-inclusion quartz crystals from Pakistan, for example. Groups such as this one are less common, however, with isolated crystals represented in greater numbers.

The edges are somewhat blunt, and 100% flawless pieces are unfortunately rare.
