Fluorite and quartz – Grand-Champ, Morbihan, France
A slab composed of small, shiny, transparent quartz needles accompanied by small green fluorite octahedrons with blue/purple edges (visible under a magnifying glass).
11 x 8.5 x 2 cm
Highlights of this specimen:
- The octahedrons are very well formed and of a good size for the site.
For information:
- Fluorite is rather rare in Brittany! The regional geological context is not particularly favourable.
Nevertheless, a few small veins have yielded remarkable specimens at Grand-Champ in Morbihan. Their size, however, remains very modest (around 2 cm maximum).
