Small double-terminated hematite quartz from the vicinity of the town of Chella in Spain, where a layer of Triassic gypsum outcrops, a typical environment for the crystallization of this type of quartz. They are commonly referred to as “hyacinth” or “St. James” quartz, as pilgrims can find them on their pilgrimage route in Spain.
