Fluorite and hematite - Face Sud des Droites, Mont-Blanc...
Fluorite in small colorless octahedrons associated with...
Large hematite slab crystallized on both sides, with a nice density of small colorless fluorite octahedrons on the front, contrasting with the underlying black hematite petals. A few microcrystals of epidote can also be seen. Hematite is also present on the back, in larger crystals.
The hematite is not in perfect condition over the whole plate, but it has the merit of being of very nice size for this August 2024 find at 3800 m altitude on the south face of the summit of Les Droites in the Mont-Blanc massif, by JF Astier.
