Cavansite and stilbite - Wagholi Quarries, Poona, India
Electric blue cavansite crystals on stilbite, a nice little...
Now a great Indian classic, cavansite remains a rare mineral to find if you're looking for a piece that combines quality, size and aesthetics (all the more so as mining in India's Wagholi quarries is now a thing of the past).
Here, the cavansite “pompom” is brilliant, in its own distinctive blue, and beautifully sized (2.6 x 2.2 cm). Purists will note that it is not intact, revealing its fibroradial structure. Poets will see a star, adding a certain charm.
It is superbly positioned in the center of a carpet of small heulandite crystals, subtly sprinkled with mordenite, and highlighted with a garland of white stilbite, bringing all its originality and aestheticism to this unique piece.
9.2 x 7.8 x 4 cm.
