Iridescent goethite (turgite) on quartz – Itremo Massif, Madagascar

A specimen featuring a quartz plate largely covered with iridescent goethite, also known as turgite. The goethite forms a continuous coating over the quartz crystals and displays clearly visible iridescence, the hues of which vary depending on the specimen’s orientation in relation to the light.

The quartz crystals remain clearly distinct despite the coating and have well-preserved terminations. Only one tip shows a fracture, whilst the others are in very good condition.
