Marmatite - Machacamarca Mine, Potosí, Bolivia

Plate composed of numerous marmatite crystals, a variety of iron-rich sphalerite. The crystals show well-defined crystallisation with numerous flat faces. The black colour is characteristic of marmatite. Some faces show submetallic to metallic reflections that appear depending on the angle of illumination, emphasising the geometry of the crystals.
