Epidote - Ras Koh Mountains, Balochistan, Pakistan

The kind of mineralogical curiosity we love: here are two large, tabular, pseudo-hexagonal crystals of epidote, accompanied by other, smaller crystals of the same habitus. The surfaces are shiny and in impeccable condition. On the back, the imprint of an old crystal remains - it's not a breakage. The great particularity of this piece, the result of a 2011 discovery in Pakistan, is that it is magnetic! Given this particularity and the geometry of the crystals, unusual for epidote, a pseudomorphosis of magnetite into epidote was initially assumed. In fact, this is not a pseudomorphosis, but rather a tabular crystallization of epidote, with magnetite microcrystals included.
