Smoky quartz - Les Courtes, massif du Mont-Blanc, Haute-Savoie, France

Lustrous smoky quartz crystal with superb transparency. Some faces are slightly chloritic, giving a glittery effect. Others show traces of an associated mineral that has now disappeared, often interpreted as fluorite. The base is recrystallized.
This alpine quartz from Les Courtes in the Mont Blanc massif is in perfect condition.
