Fluorite - Côte Rousse quarry, Vensat, Puy-de-Dôme, France

Fluorite with a bright orange-yellow colour, crystallised on a rhyodacite matrix (a volcanic rock intermediate between rhyolite and dacite).
The back of the piece has been sawn off (to be taken up again for the more fastidious). Paraffin oil has been applied to the back (not on the fluorite!) for a better rendering of this particular matrix (reversible if necessary).
