Firefly quartz with petroleum inclusions - Madirobe, Madagascar
Beautifully bright sceptered quartz with hydrocarbon...
New in 2023: Madagascar quartz with hydrocarbon inclusions, notably petroleum, highly fluorescent under long and short UVs (long Uvs in the first photo).
They are currently referred to as "firefly quartz", the distribution and extreme fluorescence of the inclusions being reminiscent of the luminosity of fireflies. This type of quartz was known in Pakistan, but these Malagasy quartz have the advantage of being highly diversified in shape and size. Unfortunately, 100% flawless pieces are rare.
The quartz shown here is double terminated, has a beautiful brilliance and complex surfaces. A small mobile bubble is present in the upper part of the crystal (visible with a magnifying glass only)! Defects are minimal in view of this quartz's general appeal.
5,1 x 2 x 1,5 cm.
