Firefly quartz with petroleum inclusions - Madirobe, Madagascar
Beautifully lustrous, windowed sceptrous quartz with...
New in 2023: Madagascar quartz with hydrocarbon inclusions, notably petroleum, highly fluorescent under long and short UVs (long Uvs in the first photo).
They are currently referred to as "firefly quartz", the distribution and extreme fluorescence of the inclusions being reminiscent of the luminosity of fireflies. This type of quartz was known in Pakistan, but these Malagasy quartz have the advantage of being highly diversified in shape and size. Unfortunately, 100% flawless pieces are rare.
The quartz shown here is windowed, with a beautiful brilliance and minimal flaws given its size and architecture!
