Polyhedral agate - Sitio Garguelo, Cachoeira dos Indios, Paraiba, Brazil

Polished slice of polyhedral agate, which can be appreciated as such for collection or mounted as a pendant. Polyhedral agates were discovered in the 1970s in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. They were formed by complete or partial filling of cavities of polyhedral shapes, interpreted as the space present between ancient crystals not determined but often assumed to be calcite (see Le Règne Minéral magazine #163).
