Spessartite garnet on albite - Haramosh mountains, Toundu district, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

A well-formed spessartine garnet, brilliant, and of a superb burgundy red contrasting with the whiteness of the underlying albite. This crystal measures 1.8 x 1.5 cm. A slightly smoky quartz, other smaller garnet crystals and a few micas (especially below) accompany it.
