Tourmaline - Santa Rosa mine, Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Tourmaline crystal with a superb blue (indicolite) and green...
Rare blue tourmaline (copper-bearing) possessing some hints of green color, from a recent discovery at the Santa Rosa mine in Brazil (November 2020). According to our research, similar pieces known to date from the 1960s-70s. The brilliance and color are great! The surfaces are vertically striated, revealing a general fibrous structure, and sometimes show different stages of growth horizontally. The endings are atypical because they are not smooth. They are indeed composed of a multitude of small acicular tourmaline crystals not always perfectly terminated. The most of this piece: its superb color obviously!
