Tourmaline - Santa Rosa mine, Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Tourmaline crystal with a superb blue (indicolite) and green...
Rare blue tourmaline (copper-bearing) with some hints of green color, from a recent discovery at the Santa Rosa mine in Brazil (November 2020). According to our research, similar pieces are known from the 60s-70s. _x000D_ The brilliance and color are great! The surfaces are vertically striated, revealing a general fibrous structure, and sometimes show different stages of growth horizontally. The endings are atypical because they are not smooth. They are indeed composed of a multitude of small acicular tourmaline crystals not always perfectly terminated._x000D_ The most of this piece: its size (4.5 cm long) and its termination, perfect despite its "rough" aspect, which is covered with small white crystals (perhaps wardite).
4,5 x 0,7 x 0,7 cm.
