Quartz – Plateau des Cavales, Grandes Rousses, Isère, France - Thumbnail n°189
This specimen features a quartz single crystal with a chlorite phantom, with a particularly clear and transparent upper portion. The greenish chlorite phantom is clearly visible inside the crystal, marking an earlier stage of its growth.
The quartz faces are well developed and display numerous fine, parallel growth striations. The termination is sharp and well defined, while several small areas of crystallization can be seen on the different faces of the crystal.
The transparency of the quartz makes it possible to clearly observe its internal structure and the contrast between the colourless quartz and the green tones of the chlorite.
