Siderite and quartz – Vizille, Isère, France
Specimen of siderite featuring a very abundant crystallization in petal-like forms, ranging from yellowish-brown to orange-brown in colour. The petals vary in size and develop in numerous overlapping groups, creating a dense and particularly rich crystallization on the main face.
On the reverse, the siderite is associated with numerous small translucent to slightly smoky quartz crystals, providing an interesting contrast with the brown tones of the siderite.

- The Vizille area, near the Belledonne Massif, is one of the historic mineral localities of the Dauphiné region. Several former mines and mineralized occurrences are known in the surrounding area, particularly for their iron mineralization.
