Haematite quartz – Guilers, Finistère, France - Thumbnail No. 177

A smoky quartz point featuring a haematite cap on a heavily textured surface. The coating of iron oxides forms an irregular relief that is particularly visible on the upper faces, lending great depth to this haematite zone. The contrast between the smoky brown quartz and the reddish-brown hues of the haematite is striking.

The point is well crystallised, with sharp, distinct faces. A micro-chip is present at the tip of the point, though this does not detract from the overall quality of the crystallisation.
