Limonite pseudomorph of marcasite - Farafa Oasis, White Desert, Egypt

A free-standing specimen displaying a beautiful three-dimensional structure of limonite pseudomorphs of marcasite. The original shapes of the marcasite are remarkably well-preserved, with numerous details still clearly visible.
Several lamellar crystals and interlocking forms radiate from a common center, giving the specimen a particularly sculptural appearance. The limonite displays shades ranging from coppery brown to dark brown, accompanied by a submetallic luster that highlights the relief and details of the pseudomorphs.
The floating display allows the specimen to be appreciated from multiple angles and particularly highlights its complex structure as well as the preservation of the marcasite’s forms.
