A pair of natural sapphires showcasing two very different expressions of corundum: a small, naturally formed crystal from Madagascar, paired with a cut blue sapphire from Sri Lanka.
The crystal from Madagascar, measuring approximately 7 mm, has a naturally crystallized shape and retains its rough appearance.
Next to it, the Sri Lankan sapphire, approximately 4 mm in size, has been cut to highlight its beautiful deep blue color and optical properties. Its facets offer a particularly striking contrast to the rough appearance of the Madagascar crystal.
Together, they allow you to appreciate the sapphire in two complementary forms: the natural crystal and the cut gemstone. An original and educational presentation, particularly well-suited for a mineral and gemstone collection.

Sapphire is the blue variety of corundum, an aluminum oxide with the chemical formula Al₂O₃. With a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, it is one of the hardest minerals after diamond. Its blue color is primarily due to the presence of iron and titanium in its structure.
Sri Lanka and Madagascar are among the major sapphire-producing regions.
