A very beautiful, isolated quartz point with a chlorite phantom from the Grandes Rousses massif, particularly luminous and transparent. The crystal exhibits remarkable clarity, revealing a very well-defined greenish chlorite phantom within its growth. Its faces are very lustrous, and its well-defined terminus perfectly highlights the quartz’s geometry. A few irregularities and growth zones attest to the natural conditions of formation within the pocket, but do not detract from the aesthetic appeal of this specimen. A recent alpine specimen that is clear, brilliant, and rich in internal details.

For your information:

This quartz comes from the Grandes Rousses massif in the French Alps. It was found in a small pocket discovered by the crystal hunter S. Desfarges, whose contents consisted mainly of isolated, relatively small crystals. The surrounding geological conditions caused the pocket to collapse, resulting in some imperfections.

Despite these characteristics, this pocket yielded quartz specimens with superb clarity and remarkable brilliance—two qualities particularly prized in Alpine crystals. The presence of chlorite phantoms adds further interest by revealing the crystal’s various growth stages: the chlorite, trapped during an earlier phase, was subsequently enclosed within the quartz as it continued to grow.
