Amber from Chevrières, featuring an intense orange to orange-red color that is particularly luminous, with beautiful visual depth.

The piece has been partially polished, highlighting its transparency and luster. It also retains some unpolished areas, offering an interesting contrast with the polished surfaces and allowing one to appreciate the natural appearance of the fossilized resin.

Its elongated and irregular shape, combined with its particularly vivid color and impressive thickness, gives it a remarkable presence for a piece of this size.

For your information:

Amber from the Oise region is particularly well-known thanks to the deposits located around Chevrières and Houdancourt, in the Paris Basin. The Quesnoy deposit, between Chevrières and Houdancourt, yielded significant quantities of amber during excavation campaigns conducted beginning in the late 1990s. The relevant strata date to the Lower Eocene, approximately 53 million years ago.

The Quesnoy deposit is now inaccessible and submerged, which heightens the interest in older specimens from this site.
