This pair allows you to explore blue apatite in two complementary forms: a well-formed, translucent natural crystal and a cut stone, both from Brazil. Apatite crystallizes in the hexagonal system and can come in a wide variety of colors, including blue, green, yellow, purple, pink, and colorless. The blue varieties are particularly prized for their intense color, and Brazil is one of the main sources of gem-quality apatite.

With a hardness of 5 on the Mohs scale, apatite is relatively soft for a gemstone. It is therefore more highly valued as a collector’s gem than as a stone intended for everyday use in jewelry.
