Ram's Horn Gypsum - Qinglong Mine, Guizhou Province, China

A beautifully white fibrous gypsum, topped by several “crook-shaped” growths resembling small ram's horns. The very fine, fibrous surface gives the crystal a delicate texture, with a beautiful luster reminiscent of sugar crystals. The main crystal grows in a very airy manner above a matrix entirely covered with smaller gypsum crystals, giving the specimen as a whole a particularly original and aesthetically pleasing silhouette.

This mineralogical locality is particularly known for its antimony mineralization and for a wide variety of associated minerals. Gypsum is now well documented there, with numerous specimens exhibiting a wide variety of crystal forms.
