This small quartz geode from Tabasco is displayed open, in two perfectly matching halves, allowing you to fully appreciate its internal structure. The interior is lined with a fine, particularly brilliant crystallization of red micro-quartz.

The dark, matte green exterior contrasts with the internal crystallization. The agate’s irregular contours highlight the entirely natural character of this small geode.

Mined in the state of Zacatecas (Mexico), near the town of Tabasco—from which they take their name—these small geodes are sought after worldwide for their unusual size (they are among the smallest known natural geodes, generally less than 1 cm in diameter) and their delicate beauty. Each geode is unique in its colors, shape, and interior: a true miniature landscape naturally shaped by the local geology.

True mineralogical curiosities, Tabasco geodes are sometimes used to make jewelry, particularly earrings!
