A cluster of “diamond” calcite crystals from the Gave de Pau, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
The specimen consists of an aggregate of colorless, translucent calcite crystals that have grown on a rocky matrix (puddingerite). The crystals have well-defined shapes, with numerous sharp, lustrous faces.
Several crystals display very beautiful parallel growth striations, particularly visible on certain faces. These fine, regular lines highlight the different stages of crystal growth.
