Quartz with rutile inclusions - Morasco region, Piedmont, Italy
Translucent quartz with golden rutile inclusions, delicately...
RARE quartz with superb, well-formed pyrite inclusions (recognizable dodecahedrons), brilliant and of good size (nearly 5 mm for the largest crystal!). These follow clearly visible planes, thanks to the superb transparency of the quartz.
Inclusions of this size are rare, all the more so in a well-formed quartz crystal (the rough being generally damaged, this type of inclusion is most often highlighted in cabochon-cut or faceted stones). Here, it is likely that the faces have been lightly polished to achieve greater transparency. However, the shape of the quartz remains 100% natural.
Unfortunately, we do not know the provenance of this piece, which came from a collection that included both exceptional classics and remarkable curiosities. Its origins could be Brazilian, Madagascan or even American (Green Ridge Breccia, Washington). We welcome any suggestions you may have.
