Quartz and calcite – Le Noiret, Montvernier, Maurienne, Savoie

A colourless to slightly milky, translucent quartz crystal with a well-formed and intact tip. The faces are sharp and display a beautiful lustre, with the termination clearly visible.

A well-defined white calcite crystal is associated with the quartz on one side. On the opposite side, a small cluster of calcite crystals completes the association.

- Le Noiret, also known as Le Noirey, is a deposit situated in the commune of Montvernier, in the Maurienne region, in the Savoie department. The area is well known in Alpine mineralogy circles for its associations of quartz and calcite.
